The first step in securing funding for your project is to identify a potential funding source. Below are a number of resources that can be used to research Federal, State and Foundation funding opportunities.
Federal Grants
Federal grant research can be conducted through the grants.gov portal. Grants.gov maintains a Learning Center full of helpful tips and videos including one on how to search for grants. In addition, staff and faculty can subscribe to daily updates of all new grant opportunities.
National Institutes of Health offers a number of excellent resources to help researchers understand more about their grant process and how to access funding through their agency.
Foundation Funding
Philanthropy News Digest publishes a list of open RFPs from national funders sorted by subject. You can also subscribe to their RFP Alerts.
SPA Office Support
The SPA Pre Award Coordinator is available to assist faculty, residents and medical students in identifying external funding sources. Contact the Pre-Award Coordinator to schedule a consultation or request customized grant research.
Tips for Grant Success
SPA publishes a weekly newsletter that features information about potential funders and grants. Sign up for WMed’s “Tips for Grant Success” listserv by emailing the SPA Pre-Award Sponsored Coordinator and asking to be added to the list.
