
The medical school will welcome Katherine King, MD, PhD, in October as the featured speaker for Seminars in Investigative Medicine.
Dr. King’s presentation is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in TBL 2 at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus in downtown Kalamazoo. A pizza lunch from Erbelli’s will be provided for attendees.

Dr. King is a professor of Pediatrics-Infectious Disease at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She is a member of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center
and an Affiliate Member for the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Center at the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy in Houston. Dr. King is also co-director of the Medical Scientist Training Program and associate vice-chair for Research in Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. King’s laboratory investigates the effects of infection and inflammation on hematopoietic stem cell biology. These findings will have implications for prevention and treatment of blood disorders related to inflammatory conditions, stem cell transplant outcomes, and immunity.
Seminars in Investigative Medicine is a research seminar series at WMed aimed at bringing together the community of investigators both within – and outside — the medical school.
