Students with Disabilities

WMed is committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to the medical education experience. We aim to support students in addressing barriers they may encounter due to a disability.

Applying for Accommodations

If you are a candidate, or current student, seeking accommodations, we encourage you to review WMed’s Technical Standards, and reach out to the Director of Student Life and Well-Being to discuss your individual situation or any questions about the standards. Together with WMed faculty and staff, we will engage in an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations based on your unique needs.

We recommend reaching out as early as possible, as accommodations are not retroactive. However, you may apply for accommodations at any time during your medical education.

To begin the process, you can complete the Request for Reasonable Accommodation (WMed login required) or email to schedule a confidential intake meeting. During this meeting, we will review all aspects of the curriculum and discuss how to best support your success. Ongoing check-ins are available throughout your time at WMed, and support is also offered for students applying for accommodations on the USMLE Step Exams.

Temporary Disabilities (Illness or Injury)

Students who experience a temporary illness or injury are encouraged to contact the Director of Student Life and Well-Being to discuss short-term accommodations and available support resources.
