To increase visibility and attract new patients, a handful of clinical leaders from WMed Health participated in Western Michigan University’s Bronco Bash.
The 44th annual welcome back to school event, held Tuesday, September 1, on WMU’s main campus, drew thousands of students and community members and featured more than 450 booths dedicated to sharing information, marketing services, and securing volunteers.
Clinical leaders distributed hundreds of free first-aid kits to students throughout the afternoon, along with informational materials highlighting WMed Health’s clinical service offerings and the medical school’s curriculum.
“Bronco Bash served as a tremendous opportunity to share some of the wonderful things about WMed with members of our Kalamazoo community,” said Cody Zeithammel, MHA, BSc, director of Clinical Affairs Business Operations at WMed. “We talked to so many people who were surprised and excited to hear about the clinical care we can offer them.”
Staff members from the WMed Simulation Center were also on hand at Bronco Bash, offering hands-on activities to showcase all the Simulation Center has to offer.
Students were invited to listen to a variety of lung sounds on a high-fidelity manikin, guessing which sounds they were hearing based on a brief description of each sound.
“Students seemed eager to learn about the equipment and what we do at WMed,” said Aleah Alexander, simulation coordinator at the Simulation Center. “Bronco Bash was an exciting opportunity to demonstrate some of the medical training that happens in the Simulation Center to a larger audience.”
