The MD Class of 2026 will gather with family, friends, and the medical school community in March to celebrate Match Day as the fourth-year students learn where they will be headed for residency training.
This year’s festivities will be held at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Kalamazoo on Friday, March 20. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m.
Students are being given tickets for three guests to attend the event, but were able to request additional tickets. More than 400 people are expected to be in attendance to support our students this year. Following Match Day, the Match Day map, highlighting where our students matched, will be on display in the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus Café.
”Match Day is one of the most anticipated and joyful events for our medical students,” said Alex Carlson, director of Student Life and Well-Being. “After years of hard work and sacrifice, this celebration reflects the reward of their commitment and perseverance.”
Match Day is a time-honored event that is held every March at medical schools across the country.
Students and their guests at the event on March 20 will hear remarks from Dr. J. Adrian Tyndall, the Hal B. Jenson MD Dean, President and CEO of WMed, as well as M4 Scott Garber. At noon, students will open the envelopes containing their Match results and learn where they will spend the next three or more years in residency training.
There will be plenty of opportunities for students and their guests to capture photos with WMed backdrops and the Match Day pin map. Students will also be able to take the stage to share their Match results with guests at the event and with those watching via livestream.
