WMed alumnus joins the Department of Family and Community Medicine

An alumnus of the MD Class of 2022 who recently completed his residency training in the medical school’s Family Medicine-Battle Creek residency program is the newest faculty member to join the Department of Family and Community Medicine at WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed).

Robert Welch, MD, began his new role as an assistant professor on September 15. He is also providing family medicine care to patients at WMed Health Family Medicine-Grace Health in Battle Creek.

Dr. Welch graduated from Liberty University in 2017 with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science. In 2022, he earned her MD degree from WMed and then remained at the medical school after graduation to complete his residency training in family medicine in Battle Creek.

During his time as a resident at WMed, Dr. Welch served as a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee. He is certified as a Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider.

Dr. Welch is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM). And he is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
