
Holly Yettaw Luts, MD, has been named the new division chief of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed).
Dr. Yettaw Luts, who began her new role on May 1, is a clinical assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Department of Surgical Sciences at WMed and provides care to patients as a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon at the West Michigan Cancer Center. She is also associate program director for the medical school’s OB-GYN residency program and previously served as interim program director.
Dr. Yettaw Luts is an alumna of Western Michigan University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences in 2003. She completed her MD degree in 2007 at Wayne State University School of Medicine and then remained in Detroit for her OB-GYN residency training at Detroit Medical Center. After residency training, Dr. Yettaw Luts completed a two-year fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City.
After fellowship training, Dr. Yettaw Luts remained at Montefiore Medical Center for 10 years and served in several leadership roles, including director of outpatient gynecology, chair of gynecology quality improvement, associate program director of the MIGS fellowship, and residency site director.
A native of Battle Creek, Dr. Yettaw Luts returned to West Michigan in 2023. Since that time, she has served on the faculty at WMed and helped enhance residents’ educational experiences. At the West Michigan Cancer Center she has grown a robust practice and been recognized by the community for her expertise on the management of complex gynecological diseases.
Dr. Yettaw Luts specializes in laparoscopic, hysteroscopic and vaginal surgery for complex benign gynecologic conditions including fibroid, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, endometrial polyps and endometriosis with a focus on perioperative education and optimization.
