
The medical school welcomed Sarah Hagle, MD, MPH, in April as the newest faculty member in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Dr. Hagle began her new role as an assistant professor on April 1. She is also providing family medicine and obstetrics care to patients at the WMed Health Family Medicine-Crosstown Parkway clinic.
Dr. Hagle graduated magna cum laude from Northern Michigan University in 2008 with a bachelor of science degree. In 2014, she earned her MD degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and obtained a master’s degree in public health in 2017.
After medical school, Dr. Hagle remained in East Lansing where she spent two years in the Sparrow/MSU Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program. In 2016, she transferred to the Family Medicine residency program at Sparrow/MSU where she completed her residency training and served as the obstetrics track chief resident.
Most recently, before joining the faculty at WMed, Dr. Hagle worked as an urgent care physician and was a clinical assistant professor at MSU College of Human Medicine. She also served as a Family Medicine/OB faculty physician for the University of Michigan Health-Sparrrow/MSU Family Medicine residency program and the UM Health-Sparrow Breastfeeding Clinic in Lansing.
She also has previous experience as a Family Medicine/OB clinical faculty physician for the Family Medicine residency program at Ascension St. John in Detroit and has held faculty appointments as a clinical instructor or clinical assistant professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Central Michigan University College of Medicine, St. George University School of Medicine, and MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Hagle is the recipient of several awards, including the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022 at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She is also certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) and as a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) instructor.
Additionally, Dr. Hagle is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Michigan Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM).
