Biosketch
Stephanie Freels, MD is graduate of the University of West Florida where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1980 with a BS degree. She then attended the University of West Florida Medical School from 1980-1984, becoming a member of Alpha Omega Alpha after her second year. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine from 1984-1985. She then completed an Oncology Research Fellowship funded by the NIH at the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School from 1985-1987 before starting a residency in Dermatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, finishing in 1990. Dr. Freels became an assistant professor in Dermatology at Rush University Medical Center training dermatology residents and teaching medical students. Dr. Freels has published multiple papers both research and clinical as well as presented many lectures at various meetings pertaining to her specialty. Dr. Freels entered private practice in 2000. Dr. Freels was named president of the Chicago Dermatological Society in 2005. She belongs to a number of Dermatology Societies. She is board certified in Dermatology and she has practiced the specialty for over 34 years. Her interests pertaining to the specialty have centered around both Cosmetic procedures and connective tissue disease to name a few.
