You can call WMed Health to schedule an appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow time to check in. If needed, we can provide you with an interpreter for your appointment. Just let us know that you need one when you schedule your appointment. Masking is optional for patients and visitors except for those who exhibit symptoms of respiratory or infectious illness. If you have cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, you will be asked to wear a face mask during your visit.
For all your appointments, please bring your current insurance card, photo ID, and the bottles of any medications, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal supplements, you are taking, as well as recent forms you have been provided or test results. If your insurance has a co-pay for an office visit, you will be responsible to pay at the time of your visit.
We want to meet all your care needs so occasionally appointment times may run longer than scheduled. When this happens, your patience is appreciated. The registration staff will advise you if your doctor is behind schedule. Follow-up appointments can be made before you leave the practice. If you arrive more than 15 minutes past your scheduled appointment time, we may have to reschedule your visit.
A complete and signed WMed Health Parental Authorization for Treatment of a Minor Form is required for treatment of minors without a parent or legal guardian present. This form is included in the pediatric new patient packets and can be requested from our team during business hours.
Your First Appointment
To provide you with the best care, your doctor needs to know your health history. We will mail you a new patient packet with one of the following forms:
- Adult Health History Form
- Orthopaedic Surgery/General Surgery Health History Form
- Pediatric Health History Form
If you do not get the form before your first visit, come to the practice at least 15 minutes early to complete the form. To keep in contact with you we need your current address, email, and phone number. Other personal information such as your age, height, weight, allergies, occupation, communication needs are necessary so we can take care of you. Your first visit will include a review of your health history with your doctor and a physical exam so together you can complete a problem list, medication list, and treatment plan of care. After the visit is complete, our registration staff will make a follow up appointment, if necessary. We will provide you with a copy of your visit summary that includes your treatment plan and updated medication list.
Canceling an Appointment
Things may come up that make it hard to keep your appointment. Please call us with as much advance notice as possible to cancel or change your appointment. This helps us to be able to see other patients who need to see the doctor. We must be notified of a cancellation at least two hours prior to your appointment or your appointment will be considered a no-show. We may dismiss you from our practice and ask you to find another doctor if you are a no-show for three appointments within a 12-month period or if you no-show your first appointment with our practice.
If you miss your appointment, please call us as soon as possible during our regular business hours to reschedule. A missed appointment will appear as a no-show unless you notify us within two hours prior to your appointment.
Calling WMed Health
Call WMed Health during regular practice hours to make an appointment, ask for prescription refills, or to discuss minor problems or questions. If you call and a staff member is not available, please give as much information as possible. We will keep all of your information confidential. We will call you back as soon as possible but it may take some time since our doctors are seeing patients throughout the day.
If you are sick, we will try to see you the same day you call. Please call early in the day and select #3 on the phone tree. You will be connected to a phone triage nurse who will talk to you about your options for care. If the doctor you ask for is not available when you call and you need to be seen, one of our other doctors will be glad to see you.
Emergency and After Hours Calls
We provide 24-hour care with telephone availability during evenings, weekends and holidays. A doctor is on-call at all times. We urge you to call us before going to an emergency room. After-hours and on weekends and holidays, if you call us, you will be connected with an answering service. The service will contact the doctor on-call who will call you back. It is important that you keep your line free so that the doctor can reach you easily. If you have not been contacted within a 20-minute timeframe, please feel free to call back. The doctor on-call may not be your usual doctor, so be prepared to answer some health history questions. The doctor will advise you about your care options. If you or someone under your care is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. When you have received care outside of WMed Health, please obtain copies of all tests results and contact your doctor as soon as possible to determine the next steps in your care.
When to Use the ER
You should seek emergency treatment for:
- Difficulty breathing
- If pregnant, serious danger to the unborn child or mother
- Loss of consciousness
- Loss of vision, speech, or movement of a body part
- Poisoning or overdose
- Severe bleeding
- Severe burns or deep cuts
- Severe chest pain
