While there, she volunteered at a needle exchange clinic in North Philadelphia and started the student chapter of Physicians for Human Rights. She graduated in 2006 and completed her general surgery residency by 2011 from the same institution in North Philadelphia. After completing a surgical critical care fellowship at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore at the University of Maryland in 2012, she returned home to Delaware and worked at a Level I Trauma Center, Christiana Care Health Center for 7 years. She is dedicated to providing quality trauma care to Western Michigan by advocating for her patients who are often marginalized and segregated in health silos.
