Biosketch
Susan S. Thoms, M.D. is a recently retired comprehensive ophthalmologist. She received her BA from Kalamazoo College and her M.D. from Wayne State University. After a medical internship at Henry Ford Hospital and ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, she entered private practice in the Detroit area. After 17 years, she joined the faculty at University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, where she directed the department's first satellite office in Livonia until her retirement 20 years later. During those years she engaged in numerous teaching activities with students, residents, and technicians, along with full time patient care. She gave frequent educational presentations to the community. Since moving to Kalamazoo, she has been a part of the standardized patient program.
