Welcome from the Program Director
Welcome to the Pediatrics Residency Program. Our goal is to prepare future leaders in pediatric medicine by offering a comprehensive, broad-based education and training in pediatrics within ambulatory, inpatient, and community settings. Our faculty are committed to resident education and quality patient care and help develop our residents into highly skilled pediatricians.
We serve children and families in Kalamazoo and southwest Michigan, both in primary and subspecialty care. Residents have the opportunity to learn from a diverse patient population with close supervision from our dedicated faculty. In addition to building a solid base of pediatric knowledge and skill, residents develop clinician educator skills by working closely with our medical students.
After graduation, our residents find success in careers across a variety of domains, including private practice settings, hospitalist medicine, academic fellowships, or pediatric subspecialty training programs. Together, our faculty and residents are enthusiastic about the work we are doing in our residency program. Our associate program director, Erica VanderKooy, MD and I look forward to meeting you during interview season!
Residency Program Staff
Our residency program support staff work together to make your residency experience as stress-free as possible by providing support for your non-clinical, day-to-day responsibilities. They are available to answer questions, provide reminders, or just to check in to see how you are doing. The program staff enjoy getting to know our residents and helping them through an important phase in their medical education journey.
