Biosketch

Chukwudi Anago-Amanze, MD, MPHTM ("Chux"), is an Internal Medicine Resident Physician at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Before earning his medical degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria, he studied Microbiology and Zoology, a foundation that continues to shape his curiosity about the science and mechanisms of disease. His journey spanned clinical medicine, public health, global health, and medical education across multiple sub-Saharan African and Asian countries, supporting HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and health systems strengthening initiatives while serving as a college lecturer in the basic medical sciences. These experiences reinforced his appreciation for medicine as both a scientific discipline and a profoundly human calling. His interests include Gastroenterology, Hepatology, clinical research, quality improvement, physician education, academic medicine, and global health. More than any specialty, however, he is driven by becoming an excellent physician through a deeper understanding of where pathophysiology meets clinical management, and how both intersect with the environments in which patients live, work, play, and age. Mentorship is central to his work. He runs a mentorship platform for IMGs and junior learners and encourages learners to recognize that every patient has two stories: the clinical story that brought them to the hospital and the personal story that brought them to this point in their life, believing that understanding both stories is often what transforms a good medical decision into the right one. He has served as a member of the ACP Resident and IMG Council. In his free time, Chux enjoys tennis, cycling, running, and reflective/songwriting.
